The elegant, yet super-hot, Natasha Knight answers Emily's questions!

The first story I ever read by Natasha Knight was a first spanking story (one of my desert island fantasies, I'll confess) called, simply, "Lara's First Spanking"--it's still available, free on her blog, here! Very few erotica authors have ever blown me away with hotness the way that story did. Partly I think that's because Natasha's kinks and mine match pretty closely (I know we're both Story of O fans, for one really important example); partly, though, it's because Natasha's erotic style is both elegant and direct. And I know I'm not the only kinkster who appreciates that combination!

As I began to get to know Natasha as a friend and a colleague, I found in her interactions the same elegance, interspersed with a hilarious, irreverent directness at times. I can't tell you how many times she's called me a dork, for example. At this point, I'd hate to do without being called a dork, by Natasha, on a regular basis
.

Why do you write?

Well, I've always written, even if it was just notebooks stuffed with quotes that inspired or prayers that touched my heart or songs that made me cry. I remember starting out with poetry way back when - I tell my husband regularly I'm a poet at heart - switched to YA paranormal and have one short published there (under another name). As for erotica and spanking erotica at that, I started to write it to get the fantasies out of my head, really. I came out a little over a year ago so for a long time before that, I hid everything out of shame mostly. I wrote to get the fantasies out of my head but the writing only made them worse. It made me want it that much more. I think it saved me.

What's your desert-island fantasy? (If you were marooned on a desert-island with only a single fantasy to get off to for the rest of your life, what would you choose?)

There are so many but the basic disciplinarian fantasy…here's a link. A detailed one… It’s kind of naughty but I think your readers like that :)

Do you think of BDSM and/or spankophilia as a practice or as an orientation, or as something else, and what does your answer mean to you?

Orientation, for sure. It's just something inside me, has been from as far back as I can remember. It's really a very simple answer for me.

Who's a favorite character from your own work, and why?

I love Hayden Hawke. Even that name…he's from Captive's Desire. You know how your characters sort of take shape as you write them? Well, he was crystal clear from the start. He was a hero but a strict disciplinarian. He loved Livvie but didn't let her off the hook for a second and he fought to do the right thing even if it would cost him his life. All that and he spanks hard. Yum.

Who's a favorite character from someone else's work (erotic or non-erotic) and why?

Jamie from Outlander [by Diana Gabaldon] is the first to come to mind. I love him. He is all man. He's big, he's Scottish (making low growly sound here), he's a warrior and he protects his woman at any cost. Plus he's got that sword belt and he's not afraid to use it…

Here's the blurb from Natasha's wonderful, latest book, Taming Megan.

Jake Roark is the husband Megan never dreamed she could have-handsome, responsible, kind-hearted, and so much more. Before she ever said her wedding vows, though, she also knew that he was traditional enough to take a misbehaving wife in hand. When the bad habits from the wild life she led before she met Jake begin to resurface, Megan soon finds herself over his knee for a bare bottom spanking.
Jake's firm hand and old-fashioned ways only increase her love for him, but when a mistake from the past is suddenly thrust into the forefront of her life and her marriage, will Jake's love for Megan be strong enough to keep her in his arms forever, no matter what he learns about her?
Publisher's Note: Taming Megan is a stand-alone sequel to Taming Emma. It is an erotic romance novel that contains graphic sexual scenes, anal play, and spankings, including domestic discipline in a contemporary setting. If such material offends you, please don't buy this book.

And a bonus excerpt, with a little intro from Natasha!

I want to share a piece that is one of my favorites in the book. It takes place during Megan's first punishment spanking. As it’s the first time Jake is punishing her, Megan naturally tests the balance of power between them…this is told from Jake's point of view.

Her look was one of pure sensuality with just a hint of challenge. He wondered if she was aware of the latter at all. She could seduce him utterly and this lesson would be lost.
Keeping his expression stern, Jake pulled his hand away. “Eyes forward, Megan,” he said.
She blinked twice, pausing for a moment, then lowered her lashes and did as he said.
He had to check himself. His cock had been hard ever since he had stood her in the corner, but spanking her, having her naked and over his lap, having her accept her punishment and even having her struggle and needing to hold her down to finally take her spanking, it made him harder than he could ever remember being. He needed release desperately, but the look on Megan’s face was enough to remind him of what he was doing, why his wife was sprawled over his lap having her bare bottom spanked.
In that one moment, the exchange of power between them had hung in the air.
Megan’s beauty was her power. As innocent as she was, as honest as she was, she was a beautiful woman and beauty was, in and of itself, power. She was aware of it, wasn’t quite comfortable or sure of how to use it, but it was there and experience had taught her how the slightest shift in the set of her mouth, how one sideways glance, could bring a man to his knees at her feet.
But Jake had no intention of allowing that to happen.
He needed to make a point. If he wanted this sort of relationship, tonight would be important. If it ended in sex now, whether it was her seduction of him or his own need, there would be no lesson. It would not be remembered as discipline even though the spanking itself had caused her pain.
“Ten more, these with the paddle. Count them out.”

  2. Awesome interview. I adore stern disciplinarians and Hayden was definitely one of those. Mmmmmmmm. And who doesn't love a big Scot with a big sword (coughs) belt?

  5. My favourite part was all of it. Like Emily, I love your writing style, Natasha, and I love your personality - such a treat to hear more of it and learn a bit more about the how and why of your writing.

Super hot excerpt, too... as always. Elegant, just like Emily said. xx

  6. Wonderful excerpt, Natasha, very sensual. Interesting that he thinks ending a punishment session by making love would undo the lesson. I know a lot of DD practitioners agree with that notion. I'm curious why he feels that way. Is he against all aftercare or simply sexual release? Jake appears to be a very controlled individual, and I like that in a man. I think Taming Megan is already in my TBR. If not, it's going there now. Thanks for sharing.

    1. Thanks Kathryn. The no sex piece is only because (in my mind at least) it's the very beginning of their DD journey so maybe a bit of insecurity on Jake's part as well. This was a very fun book to write and I hope you enjoy it. Thanks for dropping by.

\outl0\strokewidth0 \strokec2 I loved the outlander and time travel and Jamie is so hot. I am know reading a trade paperback as they didn't have an ebook version. It was published I 2008, before shades of grey made all of us Spankos come out. The book is "A Glitch in Time" by Judith McClaren" a pen name of a spanking romance author. I found it on amazon after some research. It's an awesome read. \
