Casey McKay keeps it real as only she knows how, and answers Emily's questions!

My friend Casey McKay's blog occupies a unique position in the spanking author community, I think. Other bloggers write about their sex lives with their partners. Other bloggers laugh at themselves and their spanko fantasies. Other bloggers complain about how frickin' tough life is, all over, in a way that brings a smile and a tear together. Casey is the only author I know who does all those things at the same time, and can make you wet your pants, you're laughing so hard.

Plus, she can bring the heat. Oh, can she bring the heat.

Why do you write?
I honestly started writing because I was bored. We were not in the best financial situation at the time so there wasn't really any money to do anything. I read a lot and was getting bored of reading and finding a hard time finding books that I actually wanted to read. Then I just decided to write down my own stories.

What's your desert-island fantasy? (If you were marooned on a desert-island with only a single fantasy to get off to for the rest of your life, what would you choose?)
Spanking. Is that cheating? That could literally be a part of a million fantasies, I found a loophole in your question! It is my go-to fantasy, usually a punishment spanking with a stern lecture from an alpha male. Probably something I wouldn't find very appealing in real life, but in fantasy form- yum!

Do you think of BDSM and/or spankophilia as a practice or as an orientation, or as something else, and what does your answer mean to you?
I think it can be either/or for some people. Personally I think spankophilia is an orientation for me. That is not to say that there aren't people out there who don't enjoy a good spanking once in a while. But for me, it has always been present in my imagination and it is always a turn on. Always. There are other BDSM elements I like as well- nipple clamps, bondage, I guess anything that is putting me in a submissive position. But I am not always in the mood for all of that. I am always in the mood for spanking.

Who's a favorite character from your own work, and why?
Don't authors usually say their characters are like their children and it's hard to pick one favorite? I think they all end up having a little something that I love. Right now Emmaline, from Emmaline's Groom, is stealing my heart. I tried to make her really unapologetic about who she was. She is a spoiled rich girl, and now she's married to a servant. Yes, she has to change and learn some new things to make her life work, but she isn't going to apologize for who she is. At her core she is a girl who thinks the universe revolves around her- it hopefully comes off as endearing rather than annoying. She has a lot of growing up to do, so I just think she ends up being an interesting character.

Who's a favorite character from someone else's work (erotic or non-erotic) and why?
This is a hard one, I am one of those people who's favorite movie/book/song can change based on my mood so I have to think a little bit.

Loving Lucia by Renee Rose was one of the first spanking romances I read- and don't the earlier ones always just stick with you? There is this great scene that ended up feeling like it was playing out in my head like a movie. Lucia and Marco are eating pasta and Lucia is so upset because she knows that Marco spent the night with a prostitute. Up until this point she has been sweet, shy, and timid- she just wants her new husband to like her and she wants to please him. But at this part she is so upset and angry that she hurls her entire plate of food at him, and then she runs. It's like her breaking point. I liked her as a character and I love the emotion of that scene.

Non- erotic, I always loved Sookie Stackhouse. I think I loved how honest Charlaine Harris kept her character. Yeah, she's telepathic and she's cavorting with vampires- but at the end of the day she was a girl living alone in a house in the woods. I loved that she would have these epic battles with shifters and vampires and then go home and look up a word someone used that she didn't understand. It seemed absurd, but it also completely made sense.

Blurb for Emmaline’s Groom:

Emmaline Lawford, the youngest daughter of an English Marquess, is intended to marry. Though to whom might be up for debate. Her older brother, Samuel, has his sights set on marrying her off to a Duke. Emmaline finally accepts her fate, until a breach in etiquette finds her back in the arms of the man she truly loves.

Leo Colston is stunned when Emmaline is thrust back into his life. He had resigned himself to the fact that he would never marry the woman he loved. Now they are taking hasty wedding vows and being urged to move to America, where they can leave the talk of scandal behind them.

Emma and Leo realize settling into marriage is not going to be as smooth sailing as they thought. As they try to work out their differences and get used to living in close quarters Emmaline finds herself in trouble with her new husband on more than one occasion. Leo's favorite way to end an argument is to take his lady over his knee and spank her bare bottom until she submits. Emma thinks he should just give in to her womanly charms. Who will win this battle of wills?

Emmaline's Groom is a stand alone book, but is also the first book in The Ravenswood Manor series.

This book includes spankings, graphic sex, anal play, and more. If any of this subject matter offends you, please do not purchase this book.
